Thank You For

Sunlight in a Cafeteria - Edward Hopper
Thank you for saving me the trouble
of having to disconnect

Now I don't have to think or wonder
or question or muse or pretend

to ignore or to care

Now it's like we have never been,
which by association, we never were

Thank you for being the gentleman
and saving me the trouble

of having to pry and follow
and interpret and misconstrue and report

Thank you for being who you will now be:
a shadow, a paling and passing, a forgotten
