The Song of Tritons

Rooms By the Sea - Edward Hopper
Note: This one's dedicated to those who were liberated on June 25, 2010.

"You are the memory of what |they| once were"

...We were strewn out to sea and as memories,
we began to fade fade from shore,
letting ourselves drift toward a distance between the blues

Spread toward sea and sky, we dissolved and
watched watched a world disappear, released of our weight
and swept into a newfound solitude

Above us, evening slowly eased into orange
and gently gently we began sinking below the burning sun,
transformed into mermaids, sirens, and serpents

Water creatures of the descending night,
we dived dived into the deep and then resurfaced
to sing the song of Tritons under the moon, elevated and full,
surrendering our memories to what |we| once were

"You are the memory of what |you| once were"
