Excelsior Fell From Your Mouth

Note: From my poetry thesis, "Mementos of a Hostile City"

1
You dropped stones

There were tiny stings;
I grew cautious—

Then I flung them back,
You became a mountain

2
Words small,
uncontrollable, explosive

The tongue could not be satiated
The tongue could not be tamed
