again--two weeks, in fact--
and there's no doubt it will
be a cold, cold fall to winter:
the wind races fast and
the trees sway violently
Don't you already feel like
winter has come upon us?
Light no longer lingers; fades
and disperses hour by hour,
welcoming the darkness again
Soon children will be in costumes
and stacking marshmallows on crackers
How did the humid, humid summer
disappear so quickly, overnight?
Back to the ice ages we go, replacing
tank tops with thick gloves,
turning iced tea into caramel cider
