She had been lonely
all her life
She had seen
her single image in the mirror
and she knew what it felt
to be alone
There was loneliness
in the sun, in the averted glance
and there was loneliness
in the laughter, in the abrupt nod
and then there was the loneliness
of having fallen
The blame
The inability
to remove all the words
and see the other image
