A thunderclap slams the sky with such ferocity,
the force of the sound triggers my neighbor's car alarm
And as the alarm wails along, the rain takes its cue,
slants down fast and hard, from the gray-white sky
There is more thunder, rolling and rumbling, and
the sound of sirens inch closer and closer, past the house,
Passing down the street, and then there is a brightness,
the sun trying to break through, as the rain lessens its pace
The rain is still spattering the trees and driveways, but the
light has now interjected--briefly--to offer moments of gold
