Note: One of my favorite English professors at Barnard was Saskia Hamilton. She taught me a lot about poetry and deepened my appreciation for it. This one is from her first published book of poetry.
Forget
Don't think that I never forgot him. I did.
I went to the couch and lay down, feeling a coagulated dullness that I know was
hiding the panic that must come soon.
I felt the cold of the stone floor move up my leg. Sneaky.
- Saskia Hamilton, "As for Dream"
